West System

West System Epoxy is the premier two part epoxy resin available today. It will adhere to wood, metal, fiberglass, ABS and many other materials for permanent repairs. Easy to use and remarkably strong, it is no wonder that West System is known far and wide in boating circles as the resin to use when you need the job done right. Number 105 resin is the basic ingredient in this line. You then choose a hardener to make the resin "activate" or set-up. Choose from several hardeners such as slow or fast to further customize your "cooking" approach For first time users we recommend buying the 206 Slow Hardener. It is just as strong as the fast hardener; it will give you a little more time to work on your fiber glassing project. It's always nice to know that there are a few virgins still left out there, even if we are only talking about repairs. Always buy the dispensing pumps to make accurate batches. They will pay for themselves many times over. West System epoxy resin cures quite clear, so that you can achieve a natural finish by coating with varnish. We do recommend that when over coating with varnish you use Epifanes Varnish which has a high UV sun filter. Hardwoods such as teak and mahogany have very high oil content. Consequently, most resins have a tough time adhering to these surfaces but not so with West System Epoxy! It will form a permanent bond. There are numerous fillers in the West System family that will enable you to fill gouges, stabilize stripped out screws, use as a fairing compound and create a structural adhesive putty. When you use West System you are employing an entire array of complimentary products. We have received testimonials from furniture makers, sculptors, gunsmiths and many other craftsmen about the benefits of working with this extraordinary product.
